Dr. Jason Emer’s experience as one of the most innovative cosmetic surgeons in Beverly Hills has fueled his passion for building an ingredient-conscious, effective and versatile portfolio of skincare products, regimens and procedures.
IV therapy is a method of nourishing the body by delivering nutrients and hydrating fluids intravenously. This treatment is also referred to as IV vitamin hydration therapy, IV infusion therapy, and IV drip therapy.
When we consume vitamins and nutrients orally, only about half of their benefit is absorbed. When the body takes in these compounds directly through the bloodstream, however, the effect is magnified, and relief from cold symptoms, hangovers, or jet lag is virtually instant.
ard-certified dermatologist Dr. Jason Emer, a renowned expert in state-of-the-art skin treatments and body contouring procedures, has been a long-time proponent of IV Hydration Therapy and the benefit of antioxidant hydration, vitamins, and minerals on our overall health. At the Liquid Lounge, the spa-like oasis at Emerage Medical, Dr. Emer and his staff offer an array of rejuvenating treatments and amenities, including lymphatic massage, facials and face masks, LED light therapy, dermal infusion, micro-ampule infusion, and more than a dozen IV Hydration Therapy treatments.
In addition to a full spa menu of nutrient-rich IV treatments, Dr. Emer’s patients can also receive personalized IV cocktails designed to target specific conditions and aesthetic goals. Some of the most sought-after, proprietary IV infusions at our West Hollywood IV Lounge include Classic, Primetime, Perform, Detox, and Glow.
Each of our hydrating IV cocktails contains a distinct blend of nutrients to target a specific issue, so we will need to gather some information from you in order to determine which option will be most beneficial for you. For your safety and satisfaction, you will be asked about the symptoms you want to treat, whether you have any known allergies or sensitivities, and your current medical conditions and prescribed medications prior to receiving IV drip therapy at our IV Lounge.
If Classic, Detox, Primetime, Perform, or Glow is not the ideal choice for you, a member of our exceptionally trained staff can speak with you about our personalized IV infusion services and/or recommend a more appropriate selection from our IV therapy menu, which also includes:
When you arrive for your IV micronutrient infusion session, you will be taken to the treatment area and seated. Once you are settled in and comfortable, a member of our highly qualified medical staff will need to insert a small needle into one of your veins.
In the vast majority of cases, IV therapy is administered via a vein in the patient’s arm. To ensure that a suitable vein is easily accessible for IV insertion, wear short sleeves or a shirt with sleeves that you can roll above your elbow.
The inserted needle will be connected by a tube to the IV bag containing your micronutrient infusion. Over the next 15-45 minutes, the solution will drip at a steady rate from the IV bag and into your blood stream.
You will be monitored throughout your IV drip therapy session, so we can adjust the drip rate, if needed, to accommodate your needs and ensure your treatment is as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
Our IV Lounge is a great place to rest and recharge. Many of our patients look forward to their IV vitamin hydration therapy sessions as a time to unplug and unwind. However, some patients like to bring a magazine or book to read during IV therapy; others use their smart devices to get on social media, check their email, or play games. You are also welcome to bring headphones, so you can listen to music or watch videos.
While there is no downtime or recovery following an IV therapy session, post-treatment experiences vary in relation to the patient’s reason for treatment and the specific IV cocktail involved. Often, patients will notice improvements within minutes of completing the session.
However, when a patient has considerable toxicity within the body or is healing from surgery or injury, it is not realistic to expect an instant recovery. Multiple IV infusions may be necessary to restore optimal health and achieve a patient’s desired outcome.
Dr. Emer encourages cosmetic surgery patients at his practice to take advantage of IV therapy as a post-operative treatment. After a surgical procedure, the body needs adequate fluid and fuel to power the healing process. IV therapy is the fastest way to rehydrate the body and rectify nutrient depletion, which means an IV infusion like Primetime is an invaluable ally for avoiding delays in healing and shortening your overall recovery time.
For maximum impact, Dr. Emer advises post-op IV therapy in combination with additional surgical aftercare therapies. In his experience, patients who complete an aftercare protocol that includes IV therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, hormone peptide therapy, lymphatic massage, radiofrequency skin tightening, and/or muscle toning not only heal faster but also enjoy the most dramatic aesthetic improvements.
How Dr. Emer Does IV Hydration Therapy DifferentlyWhile an IV micronutrient infusion can be performed as a standalone intervention, from Dr. Emer’s holistic perspective, IV therapy is often just one component of a comprehensive treatment solution.
His advanced, combination treatments pair cosmetic procedures like laser or radiofrequency skin resurfacing, chemical peels, and facials that work from the outside with treatments that work from the inside, such as IV therapy, hormonal optimization, and hormone peptide therapy.
When the body is in balance, health, wellness, and vibrance tend to follow. Unfortunately, most of us struggle with chronic imbalances due to environmental pollutants, toxicity, stress, suboptimal immune system function, poor diet, aging, and many other factors. Extreme athletic training, undergoing surgery, and suffering an injury can put our bodies at an even greater deficit.
Achieving optimal function across the body’s systems necessitates proper hydration and an adequate supply of the various vitamins and minerals involved in initiating and carrying out bodily processes. We are meant to get these nutrients from food. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people fall very short of meeting their nutritional needs through their diet.
Nutrient deficiencies are even an issue for health-conscious individuals who are diligent about taking oral supplements containing herbs, vitamins, and minerals. While oral supplements taken consistently at the right dose can positively impact our health, there are limits to what can be accomplished with this approach.
IV therapy can make a greater amount of nutrients available in a drastically shorter time frame than oral supplementation ever could. One disadvantage of oral supplements is that ingesting fluids and nutrients orally requires them to be processed by the digestive system before becoming available for use in the body.
Not only does this take time, but there are numerous factors that can compromise the body’s ability to absorb nutrients via this system. In contrast, the nutrients and fluids in an IV infusion are delivered directly into the bloodstream, and the full dose of each vitamin and mineral included is immediately available to fuel our bodily processes.
At Emerage Medical and LIVV Natural Health, the three main types of IV fluids we use are:
