Conveniently located to serve Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Los Angeles, NYC, and Miami.
WHAT IS EYELID SURGERY FOR MEN?
Eyelid surgery for men, or male blepharoplasty, is an operation that addresses unwanted signs of aging in the eye area. This surgery can also be performed for patients who are unhappy with their natural eyelid contours.
Eyelid surgery can focus on the upper eyelid (upper blepharoplasty), lower eyelid (lower blepharoplasty), or both areas when these procedures are combined. Upper eyelid surgery is recommended for men with heaviness and drooping in the upper eyelids.
Lower eyelid surgery is frequently performed on male patients. This procedure can remove or reposition fat and/or excise excess skin to resolve under-eye bags and create a more energized, refreshed look.

MALE EYELID SURGERY CONSULTATION: THE FIRST STEP
You will meet with us for a consultation to begin the male eyelid surgery treatment process. This is an important step, as it allows us to determine your candidacy and the ideal treatment approach for resolving your cosmetic concerns. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about treatment options and procedure details.
During the consultation, we will assess your facial structure and tissue and will review your medical history. We will also talk with you in-depth about your desired outcome, so we can identify the best surgical approach for your needs.
We want every patient to feel confident about their decision to undergo eyelid surgery. We will explain in detail what to expect on the day of your surgery and throughout your recovery.
WHAT DOES EYELID SURGERY FOR MEN INVOLVE?
Anesthesia will be given to you at the start of your procedure. When it has taken effect, your surgery will begin by making the required incisions. We can then reposition fat, tighten muscles, and/or remove skin as needed to achieve an aesthetic outcome. We will close the incisions to complete the procedure.
Eyelid surgery is an outpatient procedure, so you will return home the same day. However, you will need to plan to have someone drive you.
We will provide aftercare instructions that you must follow to support an optimal recovery. Expect to rest for several days after eyelid surgery and to restrict your activities as directed.
OUR APPROACH TO EYELID SURGERY FOR MEN
Men have fuller, heavier eyelids than women, so drooping is quite common in the upper lids. However, removing too much skin can produce an overdone look and/or effeminate eyelid contours.
To ensure the most aesthetic results possible, we frequently advise male patients to combine upper eyelid surgery with a brow lift. Pairing upper blepharoplasty and brow lift procedures allows the doctor to be more conservative with skin removal in the upper eyelids, yet still provide noticeable lifting and smoothing across the upper face.
This combination is also recommended for many men since the male brow line is generally lower than the female brow line. A low brow line can emphasize the effects of drooping upper eyelids.
Our surgical approach is tailored to the patient’s unique anatomy. A technique called transconjunctival blepharoplasty with fat repositioning or a technique called transcutaneous blepharoplasty with fat repositioning is used when performing lower eyelid surgery for men.
The transcutaneous blepharoplasty approach is typically better for patients with more advanced signs of aging who will require skin removal to accomplish the desired outcome. The transconjunctival blepharoplasty technique can be ideal for patients with healthy skin elasticity. Dr. Sanan will explain which approach is best for you during your consultation.
WHAT IS THE COST OF EYELID SURGERY FOR MEN?
The price of male blepharoplasty varies from patient to patient based on many factors, including whether you need lower eyelid surgery, upper eyelid surgery, or a combination procedure to resolve your concerns. The surgical techniques required and the associated anesthesia and facility fees will also affect the cost of your procedure.
